AAWE  - Fullfilling The Mission

AAWE’s definition of reproductive health is broad. It believes women need information about various methods of contraception and some of the harmful side effects, preventing HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases (STD’s), understanding and learning how to chart menstrual cycle, infertility, prenatal care, infant and maternal mortality, menopause, breast care, accessing safe abortions, etc.  Similarly, AAWE believes that a woman’s ability to lead reproductive healthy lives is closely connected to her ability to overcome other social and economic barriers.  AAWE’s health education and policy/advocacy work highlights the intersections between the issues and how they impede a woman’s ability to access critical resources and services.

The education, policy, and advocacy initiatives feed off of each other.  Through education, AAWE seeks to inform and empower women, with the motto of “Full Knowledge = Total Access.”  It is only by having full information that an individual can truly make an informed decision.  AAWE achieves this by providing cutting-edge information and a critical analysis to its constituency about reproductive health issues.
